Entry #5 August

Hey readers, how are you? :) I hope you all had a good summer! August has been very eventful for me from finishing class and doing things out in the sunshine. My environmental awareness project continues with my outstanding contributors @pelacase and @happyearth. These two companies make me strive to do better to protect the nature around us. This month’s blog post has a lot of new special content like another shopping haul installment including new Pela cases and my new Makeup Eraser towel (with review 😘). I also completed August’s Happy Earth Ambassador Challenge, alongside enjoying the end of my summer from meteor showers to camping :) Last but not least a new clothing collaboration announcement as well as my drum update!

Makeup Eraser Towel!!: Review below (super important sustainability note!)

Makeup Eraser Review:

I have to recommend this product to literally everyone out there who uses wipes to wash their face. The Makeup Eraser is for everyone!! Even if you don't wear makeup, this towel prevents 3,600 wipes from landfills/oceans and all you do is get the towel wet. If you think about how a package of Neutrogena wipes has about 25 wipes, costing nearly $6 would mean you would spend $864 to have 3,600 wipes when I got a 5 pack of makeup eraser towels for under $10!! It’s insane what alternatives we have that truly impact the environment and actually save us money!! Please do consider investing 💗

Happy Earth Ambassador August Challenge: Picking Up Litter In Your Community

I was able to complete this month's Happy Earth Ambassador Challenge which always makes me feel good because both this company and I are contributing to the planet, it's a very nice circle. Through my saved impact points and rewards I ordered two new mystery products from them, but, once the items ship they will be featured on my Instagram and my next shopping haul so stay tuned! My order prevented 300 pounds of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and I will have my little impact pins coming :) We also get to find out what the monthly challenge will be for September! WILDFIRE AWARENESS!!!

Mid-August, 3 major wildfire complexes started in North/Central California. This has caused many people to evacuate and many structures have burned. The two largest fires burning now are in the top 3 largest wildfires in California state history. Burning around 350,000 acres and only ~30% contained as I have written this. The smaller wildfire complex happens to be burning a mile north of my college campus forcing the closure and evacuation of my school. Luckily firefighters have worked to create a line that will protect the SE border and hopefully prevent more damage, especially to my school. Unfortunately, Big Basin State Park, Calfornia's first historic state park has burned beyond extent, and many thousand-year-old trees and other landmarks are gone. We wish the best for the firefighters working to end the wildfires in California, and thank you! Protect the forests. Also, remember to be safe with fire... Smokey the Bear says "Prevent Forest Fires"... you can practice this by treating fire with a level of importance and to be sure you put fires out and do not light objects on fire near vegetation or anything dry/flammable as it will easily spread before you can get water or reach help. Burning cigarettes, fireworks, and campfires are primary causes of wildfires besides natural causes of lighting and dry weather. Please be safe!

I recently started a collaboration with my best friend Abi (@dj_abi_music) and together we have released two major designs named Butterfly Effect and SoundWaves! Perseid Meteor Shower August 12th, 2020

I heard about the Perseid Meteor Shower this year from NatureBacks company email which was so lucky for me to check and amazing for them to share! This meteor shower is one of the most anticipated because the streaks of light from the meteors are long, colorful, and bright. If you had looked NE up in the sky towards the Perseus constellation between the hours of 12 am and 4 am, in a place away from as much light pollution as possible, you were able to see up to 50 meteors an hour. These meteors are the debris/dust of the Swift-Tuttle Comet passing through Earth's atmosphere and burning up as it orbits around us. Depending on the brightness of the moon you could see many more, but this year the moon rose around midnight and was about 47% full. I learned that this meteor shower actually occurs every year and leaves much excitement for each year I remember to watch, I love the stars so much. My bf and I were so astonished Wednesday night when we saw 15 meteors in one sitting! I'm not sure when I will be able to say I saw that many in one night again but it made us jump out of our chair in wonder. Any movement or scenery added to the sky only makes me want to go to space more haha.
