What I’ve accomplished since writing blog posts on my website in 2020
In my personal life: (Posted on Instagram)
I continued to post content regarding my “Sustainability News Sunday” feature which I hope to continue going forward.
I posted sustainable shopping including product reviews and contributed to my list of sustainable resources. (see separate blog post)
I took a class in environmental art and showcased my three projects on my Instagram: “HouseFire”, “Succulent Sash”, and “Mother Nature’s Throne of Change”.
I celebrated Earth Day each year in a different way: In 2021: I participated in the #climatestrikeonline and hiked Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon, in 2022: I participated in an Earth Day sisterhood with my sorority and in 2023: I attended a local Earth Day celebration both on the UC Santa Cruz campus and in Downtown Santa Cruz, CA and encouraged my housemates to accompany me. I went camping and hiking in Big Sur, CA for the first time.
I moved to Colorado in June to attend graduate school with class beginning at the end of this month. (August)
Work/Experience:
I started various brand ambassadorships with companies that help the environment such as Pela Case, tentree, and Happy Earth.
I completed a 10-hour certification in Sustainable Interior Design through UGREEN.
I continued to be a leader in my sorority Gamma Phi Beta by taking on numerous positions including but not limited to: Sustainability Chairwoman, New Member Educator, Alumnae Relations Chairwoman, and Historian.
Through a class in my sustainability studies minor, I completed my first student internship locally in Santa Cruz at the Younger Lagoon Natural Reserve working in native habitat restoration.
I was selected amongst 11 other students to be a panelist at UC Santa Cruz’s first annual Climate Conference and shared my case study regarding the effects of Climate Change in Puerto Rico and their own solution of the Puerto Rico Climate Change Council (PRCCC).
School:
I moved back to Santa Cruz California to finish my undergraduate career (post-pandemic) and was rewarded my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in Sustainability Studies in December 2022.
I applied to graduate programs in the field of Environmental Studies and was admitted into UC Santa Barbara and CU Boulder, ultimately deciding on attending CU Boulder’s professional graduate program for a Master’s in the Environment with a specialization in Urban Resilience and Sustainability.
